2019 Plumpjack “Estate” Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

 96 points Vinous

“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a sumptuous, heady wine. It possesses tremendous richness and pure power from the outset. Inky dark fruit, mocha, espresso, leather and licorice infuse the 2019 with notable character. This deep, potent Cabernet delivers the goods, big time. (AG) “(10/2021)

 95 points Jeb Dunnuck

“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate showed brilliantly, with a ripe, sexy, full-bodied profile that’s just about impossible to resist. Deep purple-hued with lots of red, black, and blue fruits, it shows exotic notes of iron, orange blossom, and chocolate with time in the glass. These all carry to a perfectly balanced, layered 2019 with velvety tannins and the richer style of the vintage front and center. (JD) “(2/2023)

 94 points Wine Advocate

“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 5% Malbec. Deep garnet-purple in color, it charges out of the gate with bold blackcurrant and blackberry preserves scents, plus hints of tilled soil, truffles and unsmoked cigars. The full-on opulent, rich, velvety palate is decadently laden with black fruit preserves and earthy accents, finishing long with a lively lift. (LPB) “(10/2021)

2019 Odette “Estate” Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon

 97 points Jeb Dunnuck

“A blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 6% Malbec, and the rest Petit Verdot, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate comes all from the cool Stags Leap District and was brought up mostly in new French oak. It’s a full-bodied, ripe, powerful 2019 that nevertheless stays balanced and weightless on the palate, with silky tannins and a rare level of polish and elegance. Giving up lots of pure cassis and blue fruits as well as notes of violets, underbrush, and high-class oak, it already offers pleasure yet is going to evolve gracefully for 20 years or more. If you’re looking for ripe, sexy, seamless, and impeccably made Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, look no further. (JD) “(5/2022)

 95 points Vinous

“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is an especially opulent, full-throttle wine off this site. Racy and sumptuous to the core, the Estate is a terrific example of the extroverted side of the vintage. Inky fruit, chocolate, new leather and spice build as this sumptuous Cabernet shows off its curves. I imagine the 2019 will drink well with minimal cellaring. (AG) “(10/2021)

2019 Cade “Estate” Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

 95 points Jeb Dunnuck

“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is even better, with a stunning nose of black and blue fruits as well as iron, black olive tapenade, and subtle herbal nuances. Pure 2019 goodness on the palate, it’s full-bodied, has ripe, polished tannins, a great mid-palate, and one heck of a finish. It’s not for those looking for old school Claret, but it brings beautiful richness and depth and will shine for at least 10-12 years as well. “(5/2022)

 95 points Vinous

“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a huge, opulent wine. A blast of inky dark fruit, chocolate, spice, plum and menthol gives the 2019 its racy, extroverted personality. The Estate is a typical wine from Cade that balances Howell Mountain intensity with plenty of Napa Valley lushness. The 2019 is sure to be a crowd pleaser. (AG) “(1/2022)

 94 points Wine Advocate

“The 2019 Cade Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is blended of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 3% Malbec. Deep garnet-purple in color, it charges out of the glass with vibrant black cherry preserves, wild blueberries and mulberries scents, giving way to a core of cassis and star anise plus a waft of chocolate box. Full-bodied, concentrated and packed with bright black fruits, it has a fine-grained texture and long, energetic finish. (LPB) 94+ “(11/2021)

Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

94 Decanter

Usually $110.00 Discount $89.99 a bottle on six bottle orders or more

The 2019 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has notes of red cherry, raspberry, blackberry, iris, vanilla and clove. Ruby in color, this elegant wine has great acidity and lift on the mid-palate. Black currant and warm baking spices linger with a deep and fruity finish. It will provide drinking pleasure through 2047 given proper cellaring.

Blend: 95.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Cabernet Franc, 1.9% Merlot, 0.4% Petit Verdot

Aged in 50% new and 50% second-use American Oak from the Duncan family’s The Oak cooperage in Higbee, Missouri. Matt Duncan joined me for my tasting, and he says the Petit Verdot in the blend, of which there is 0.4%, is co-fermented with the Cabernet Sauvignon, intended to bring focus to the Cabernet fruit. A compelling, brooding, muscular rendition of Cabernet from Alexander Valley with gorgeous boysenberry notes, black currants, and rose petals laced with vanillin notes and toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied with black currants, ripe blackberry and black cherry notes framed by velvety tannins laced with that irresistible vanillin note. Toasty oak spices lend a hint of sweetness, balanced by grippy acidity. Long and complex, revealing umami, garrigue, and crushed slatestone on the finish. It’s a terrific wine from the Alexander Valley.

Remoissenet, Meursault 2020

92 Points WW

Usually $130.00 Discount $114.99 a bottle on six pack orders

The name Remoissenet is recognized by serious collectors, and stands for refined, classic Burgundian wines. Founded in Beaune in 1877 it was run as a négociant and producer for the last part of the 20th century by the venerable Roland Remoissenet. Retiring in 2005, Remoissenet handed over his estate and vineyards to new owners; a New York financier Edward Millstein (an avid Burgundy collector) along with Pierre-Antoine Rovani (formerly of the Wine Advocate) and Bernard Repolt (Maison Louis Jadot). With this purchase came the entire contents of the famed, historic cellar; the largest cellar of aged Burgundy in the world that was solely in the care of Remoissenet’s hands up until that point. Within these caves built in the 1300s, connecting the cellar through medieval walls to the town of Beaune itself, lies a treasure trove of historical bottlings, effectively a museum loaded with priceless art. And upon the vines each vintage, new history is being made and ACME has an “in”, on your behalf.

100% Chardonnay aged in 30% new French oak, this wine is a picture-perfect example of the golden fruit and nutty nuance of the Côte de Beaune’s most expressive village for white Burgundy. A blend of both purchased and estate-owned, biodynamically raised fruit for a Meursault of endless intensity and pleasure.

NV Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve Champagne

Usually $80.00 Discount $56.99 a bottle on six pack orders

94 James Suckling

Very impressive for a “regular” non-vintage Brut, not only in terms of aromatic complexity – candied citrus, dried peach and fresh mirabelle plus a hint of bread dough – also in terms of texture, the creamy, rich and crisp sides of the wine neatly interlocking. Long, structured finish. A cuvee that’s half 2018 and half reserve wines, some of which are a couple of years old, but many of them are five- to 10-years-old, with several over 10-years-old.

A deep golden robe. Delicate vivacious and long-lasting bubbles are the result of more than 36 months of ageing in chalk cellars. With 40% of reserve wines (the maximum possible amount), the blend offers a complex, voluptuous nose with notes of freshly baked brioche and the richness of roasted coffee beans. A precise selection of wines, purposely limited to 60 crus, ensures the Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve a deliciously sophisticated harmony. An opulent selection of ripe, sun-drenched fruits such as mango, apricot, and greengage plum combines with dried fruits, pistachio and almond. The texture is reminiscent of a crisp layer of nougatine on a velvety cream pastry filled with plump red plums and ripe cherries. The reserve wines, some dating back ten years give the wine lushness. The depth of the thousand-year-old chalk quarries where the wine matures offer a touch of praline along with notes of amber and vanilla.

Fredric Magnien, Morey Saint Denis Les Larrets Blanc 2019

Usually $75.00 Discount $59.99 a bottle on six pack orders

Magnien ages his white in older oak barrels to round off the edges but it’s still a rich, fleshy, savory white with hints of wintergreen, lemon and orange zest, apricot and Asian pear notes on a medium to full frame that finishes like it was siphoned through stone. Mouthfilling and delicious, go with richer fare here like Coquilles Saint Jacques, cream sauces, whole grilled fish or poultry and the like. Drinking now!
